Pallid Sturgeon Status in the Middle Mississippi River

gill netting

In response to concerns about the impacts of navigation on pallid sturgeon recovery in the Middle Mississippi River, a collaborative partnership among researchers with the Waterways Experiment Station, Missouri Department of Conservation/USGS, and Southern Illinois University sought to determine the current status of this federally endangered species.  This research was funded by the St. Louis District, US Army Corps of Engineers and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

In the downloadable report, a synthesis/summary of our current understanding of demographics, habitat needs, and potential threats to recovery is included.  Many of the research chapters have been published in the peer-reviewed literature, although they also are included within the report.  The entire report, including the synthesis, has been subjected to peer-review.
