Fish Passage in the Mississippi River Basin Telemetry Identification
This site is maintained by the Fisheries and Illinois Aquaculture Center at Southern Illinois University. It summarizes the locations of fish implanted with ultrasonic transmitters in the Mississippi River System. Several projects are underway and this site is intended to serve as a clearinghouse for telemetry data acquired by stationary receivers (VR2W; visit Vemco site) at several locations in the MRS. Green triangles indicate the current locations of functional receivers. Please contact either Ron Brooks or Jim Garvey for further information about these receivers. Data should only be used by the personnel or agencies responsible for implanting transmitters in fishes. This project is sponsored by the St. Louis and Rock Island Districts, US Corps of Engineers.
We also have created a prototype data service to the telemetry community...please refer to http://fishdata.siu.edu/passage (html) to check it out. You need a username and password - contact Ron Brooks for this information. More documentation will be forthcoming. This site provides the locations of telemetered fish and actual coordinates for receivers in the Mississippi River Basin.
